Why does our Cockatiel put his tail up and go into corners?

Hi,
My family’s cockatiel is 4 years old. He’s a male Lutino. He acts very strangly sometimes.
He sometimes goes into corners and puts his tail up and goes low to the ground. Then if you put your hand up to him he hisses. He also sometimes puts his wings out, puts his tail up and waddles around making squeaky noises when you pet his back.
Why does he do this? Thanks!
(He’s doing this right now.)
We’re sure it’s a male. He doesn’t really chew on his cuddlebone.

How are you sure he is a male? I strongly agree with Denise, that is classic female nesting behaviour. Petting the backs of females also stimulates mating behaviour which you have also described perfectly.
Try looking at the underside of his/her tail in very good light. Female lutinos will have just slightly darker yellow bars against the lighter yellow background colour of the tail.
