Cuterebra in Piper the dog

This is a short video showing a cuterebra infection in a dog (Piper!). I’m putting it up here because I had a bit of a difficulty finding an example of a puss-filled hole in the skin to figure out what it was. Cuterebra is also known as Warbles and Bot Fly. (There are probably species distinctions that I don’t know about, but the larva from a fly incubating under the skin is the common phenomenon.) This does not show the parasite itself, just it’s airhole and it ‘breathing’. Piper is fine, having had the parasite evicted by a vet. Do NOT try to remove it yourself, as if it bursts inside the skin, it can cause allergies and infections.
