How long will a small cage for a baby iguana last?

I am getting an iguana but I can only afford a small cage for about . The cage is almost twice the length of the iguana. Its a baby iguana, how long do you think it will be before I will have to build a new cage? Which I plan on doing?

  1. They should never be put in small cages. They need cages taller than they are long. It should always be 1.5 times the length of the lizard. I would not get an iguana if I couldn't afford or was not able to build a large cage. They need heat lamps, UVB lighting, water bowls large enough to soak their whole body in, daily misting, and a correctly balanced salad with vitamins daily. They are not cheap or easy to care for. They grow very quickly, so even a 50 gallon tank won't last more than a few months.
